What is so exciting and rewarding about Photography and also what are the types of fields you can get with it other than being a ';paparazzi';
A friend told me that you can work on National Geographic if you're good and perseverant.
Ty.What's the beauty of Photography during and after college, I'm thinking to study it but still have some doubts
There are many different fileds you can get into. First ask yourself, ''what type of pictures do i most enjoy taking?';
Here's a list of some photography fileds:
photojournalism -- working for a newspaper, sometimes magazines, taking pics of news events (pictures in newspapers are often taken by a photojournalist), things going on in the world, wars, different countries %26amp; cultures, and even national geographic. these can be a very fun field, exiciting, because you could land a job to phtoograph some amazing vacation place and creat a photo story of it (for a magazine or book)
fashion-- basically photographing prodcuts of fashion, models, clothing, shoes, accessories/ jewlery,etc. in this field you may phtoograph in a studio or outdoors, it's really your choice.
commercial/advertising-- this will be similar to fashion, except you will photograph lots of different products, and you have to photograph the prodcuts in a way that will seel them and make people want to buy them, it doesn't have to just be a thing/object..you may have to photograph a place for some advertisement.
documentary-- this is similar to photojournalism, except you'll be more likely to make a story of something YOU think is important. make a photo story of something you want to share with the world, something you want people to be aware of, or something you want to the world/people to change. the beauty in that, is that sometimes people just don't realize how tragic something is until they see it themselves. through documentary or photojournalism you can make people aware.
studio/portrait-- you can open your own studio and photography families, couples, babies, children, students, just average people that want to make memories.
wedding photographer (or other special occasions) --this field is very difficult but may be interesting and exciting if you are touched by sentimental moments such as weddings. the beauty in that is that you help people capture some of the most important memories of their life.
nature photography-- go out and shoot the natural beauty of this world and submit your photos to magazines or stores or sell them yourself..
sports photographer
im sure there are more, but im drawing a blank.
be open minded, there are lots of possibilities!! find a camera and go out some where--start taking pictures of anything you feel like taking pictures--then get that film developed and see what the results are...just experiment.. only YOU can really know what beauty will come from phtoography after you try it yourself... because it's inexplainable..What's the beauty of Photography during and after college, I'm thinking to study it but still have some doubts
You don't have to go for National Geographic.
As for me I'm going to get my Masters in Photography. And my Bachelors in Fine Arts.
My plan is photo journalism (which is the photographers in Magazines that take pics for them)
My style is like magazines ::: VICE or SPIN
very unique and funny (which is me) but also serious.
Try that. Its very fun because you have a wider view of the world. You see it alot different. I have been into Photography for about 2 years now and man....its great.
I tend to observe alot more than usual...including what people say or react...
Suddenly....everything is beautiful.
So during High School , its the beginning of something new and interesting. But when you want to go to college, its helps you improve and also teaches you how to show everyone how you look at things.
Go for something that represents you. Find someone you can work for that loves YOUR work and doesnt want you to change
Hope this helped =]
GOOD LUCK choosing.
As you get more into Photography and perpetually looking for subjects you develop what's called 'seeing', noticing the things other people pass up. Which is life enhancing in it's own right.
National Geographic is top of the tree, and is usually by invitation having made their mark in some field of Photography or other.
Try all Genres of Photography and see which appeals most to you, often it's an extension of another interest. Wildlife photographers for instance have often studied wildlife for years before they started to photograph them, but their knowledge of animals and plants has distinct advantages over the rest of us.
Photography is not the easiest of professions these days, there are more photographers than there are people who buy pictures, you have to have an edge sometimes from a seemingly totally different discipline.
Don't let this put you off theres always a market, sometimes fleeting, for something different, but it has to be technically perfect too.
Chris
Well, I know some people who do portraits and wedding photography.
You could work for a newspaper or other serious media.
You could double major or do that as a minor and have photography be a great on the side job. or just have the ability to take great pictures for your own use.
The best part is that your career will be something you L-O-V-E!!! There are tons of different fields you can get into... wedding, portraiture, fashion/glamour, sports, photojournalism, fine art, commercial, nature/wildlife, etc.
