Would you rather spend your extra cash on beauty supplies or clothing?

My beauty supplies, it ranges from pads to lipgloss.

By clothing, it includes accessories.Would you rather spend your extra cash on beauty supplies or clothing?
It really depends on how much I need either beauty supplies or accessories. If I needed mascara or cover-up badly, I'd spend it there. However, if I was just wandering around, and I saw a cute bag, wallet, or jewelry piece, I would probably buy it without considering the beauty products.Would you rather spend your extra cash on beauty supplies or clothing?
I would say clothing because it would last longer, and you could choose accesories with your outfits. And,it ALSO lasts longer.:D
I would have to say clothing. I'm the type of girl who likes to keep it simple so makeup often seems like a waste of time for me.
Spend them on clothes 'cause clothes don't expire, and beauty supplies do.
Would you rather be clothed and ugly?

Or pretty and naked?
clothing definitlly. i don't really wear makeup(just some lipgloss and masscara)so i would spend my money on clothes.
Well, I'd save it. But I would chose clothing.
thats a toughy!!! i love them both a lot, but i would rather spend $$$ on clothes
I'd say clothing. It lasts longer :)
Clothing!! Duh!! lol! =)
clothes all the way

What are some ways to cover up a beauty mark?

I have a beauty mark and I would like to cover it up with makeup (or anything else) well my beauty mark isnt exactly flat so its not that easy to cover. and of course i would like it so its not obviouse that its covering. What are some ways to cover up a beauty mark?
Don't coverup your beauty mark!

it's what makes you beautiful and unique!!

but... to answer your question, use a concealor, then apply liquid foundation, and then a powder to seal it in.

don't put too much of the same product though! (i.e. too much concealor)What are some ways to cover up a beauty mark?
covering it up will just make it more noticable. and it will give people the idea that you're insecure with it.

flaunt it dahling!
What kind of beauty mark? Is it dark or flesh-toned? What size is it?

This isn't what you want to hear, but I say embrace it a la Cindy Crawford or Sara Jessica Parker. Let it be part of the character and uniqueness of your face.

However, if it bothers you that much and has color, get a thicker foundation to cover just that area. Foundations marketted to younger customers are generally shearer, and may not be up for the job. Find a foundation created for a more mature audience, who tend to require more coverage. Someone at a make-up counter at your local mall should be able to help.

Keep in mind that removal by a dermatologist is an option if you hate it and can't cover it. Plus, you should always have skin anomolies checked out to make sure they are healthy.
You can get dry ice and using gloves put it on your beauty mark and then it should fall off in 2-3 seconds. But look into it farther before actually doing it.
You could obviously cover it up with foundation/liquid. But since it's not flat, you could use spirit gum, eyebrow wax, or anything that is gel-based and really thick. What your do is you put it on the beauty mark and the surrounding area around it to make it blend in, and like a second skin.

If you want it to be more flat, simply get a warm towel and compress.

If the beauty of the world and the complexity of the universe constituted good evidence for God's existence?

Don't you think that God must have slipped something? If believing in Him has necessarily to be through faith, and through faith only, how come He happened to make the world so unmistakenly beautiful and the universe so unmistakenly complex? If the beauty of the world and the complexity of the universe constituted good evidence for God's existence?
i understand what youre saying. how can there be any 'evidence' for gods existance yet there still are claims that god wants to remain hidden and that we should believe based on faith alone.

a paradox? If the beauty of the world and the complexity of the universe constituted good evidence for God's existence?
You mean that the beauty of a liver fluke or necrotizing fasciitis and the complexity of the vacuum of deep space is not sufficient proof to you that there is an infinitely complex, infinitely powerful, infinitely knowledgeable being who created the entire universe of a billion billion billion billion stars (and quite possibly more) just so that we could live on a small planet orbit one insignificant star, and loves us so much that he lets thousands suffer every day.

You are just so close-minded to the TRUTH!!!

%26lt;/sarcasm%26gt;
This is the Douglas Adams and the Babel fish argument from the ';hitchhikers guide';. Basically since God requires faith anything he does to absolutely reveal himself would cause him to vanish in a poof of circular logic.

Obviously your answer is that the beauty of the world is not absolute proof fo God's existence which is I believe what you intended to say. It is good evidence, but , like any other evidence, it can be refuted.
No, beauty is a subjective aesthetic sense, so can't be evidence of a god. One man's beauty is another man's ugliness or neutrality. How could these simultaneous perceptions be linked to a god's existence?

The complexity of the universe is what it is - how would this constitute evidence? Is there some measurable threshold of complexity, below which would signify no god, but above, a god? What would be the linkage between such a complexity level and the existence of a god? What would this threshold be and why?

@Frizby-

%26lt;%26lt;What i find strangely amusing is the fact that many big bangers or evolutionists believe that their beliefs aren't faith based and just primarily proof and evidence based..%26gt;%26gt;

Go on then, feel free to point out an example of what you mean! I'm a bit of a BBer myself, so go for it...
Obviously because of lack of evidence we need faith to believe in God, but all Christians or believers in God will tell you that all Creation is evidence enough that God exists..

What i find strangely amusing is the fact that many big bangers or evolutionists believe that their beliefs aren't faith based and just primarily proof and evidence based..

If we were to look at the evidence from a science perspective would we really see evidence or would we see assumptions calculations and guess work..

Is this really the evidence that all scientists and atheists praise to be the ultimate truth, it somehow seems strangely like faith based to me, nothing else..
This Nature is subjected to an absolute organization, to determined laws, to a complete order and a finished design, from which it will never depart鈥攖o such a degree, indeed, that if you look carefully and with keen sight, from the smallest invisible atom up to such large bodies of the world of existence as the globe of the sun or the other great stars and luminous spheres, whether you regard their arrangement, their composition, their form or their movement, you will find that all are in the highest degree of organization and are under one law from which they will never depart.

http://reference.bahai.org/en/t/ab/SAQ/s鈥?/a>

But when you look at Nature itself, you see that it has no intelligence, no will. For instance, the nature of fire is to burn; it burns without will or intelligence. The nature of water is fluidity; it flows without will or intelligence. The nature of the sun is radiance; it shines without will or intelligence. The nature of vapor is to ascend; it ascends without will or intelligence. Thus it is clear that the natural movements of all things are compelled; there are no voluntary movements except those of animals and, above all, those of man. Man is able to resist and to oppose Nature because he discovers the constitution of things, and through this he commands the forces of Nature; all the inventions he has made are due to his discovery of the constitution of things. For example, he invented the telegraph, which is the means of communication between the East and the West. It is evident, then, that man rules over Nature.

Now, when you behold in existence such organizations, arrangements and laws, can you say that all these are the effect of Nature, though Nature has neither intelligence nor perception? If not, it becomes evident that this Nature, which has neither perception nor intelligence, is in the grasp of Almighty God, Who is the Ruler of the world of Nature; whatever He wishes, He causes Nature to manifest.

One of the things which has appeared in the world of existence, and which is one of the requirements of Nature, is human life. Considered from this point of view man is the branch; nature is the root. Then can the will and the intelligence, and the perfections which exist in the branch, be absent in the root?

It is said that Nature in its own essence is in the grasp of the power of God, Who is the Eternal Almighty One: He holds Nature within accurate regulations and laws, and rules over it.
Your question doesn't make sense...it's like asking ';why did God slip up and make you so beautiful and so sexy?'; as if those are negative things?

The beauty and complexity of the world and the universe are for His own pleasure, as well as ours.
to make it simple for us but too bad many of us still dont undertand..according to Quran....Allah has His signs all around us and within us if only we ponder.....

and it also says....is there doubt in Allah who created the heavens and earth?

its all so perfect and so well managed.....it all follows a schedule...still ... do you wish the deaf will hear you do you want to show the right path to people who are blind.....people who refuse to see with their eyes are blinded by Allah as a punishment and they never see sense.
What is the question?

It presupposes an answer, because you assume that 1) God made

the world, and therefore 2) There is a God. That is unfounded logic.
It doesn't necessarily follow that ';God'; is anything like how the biblical tradition asserts, though. Vague arguments for a deity are hardly arguments for Christianity.
Beauty is merely aesthetics. Awe is a human reaction, not spiritual. It is often mistaken for a spiritual experience.
There is no god or heaven or hell.

All gods are imaginary. See www.godchecker.com

Read the book ';the god delusion'; by Richard Dawkins
The universe is also unmistakably hostile to life.

Does that mean god is a prick?
His ways are higher than ours. Perhaps some things are not meant to be known, at least not in this life.
God makes the rules.
God made His presence aware. It's all documented in the Bible. So, we do have more than faith to go on; it's just people choose to ignore it.

What is the big deal about sulfates in beauty products?

I have heard a lot about how they are bad for your skin - what do they do?What is the big deal about sulfates in beauty products?
I'd be more concerned about parabens and pthalates if I were you. Parabens are not allowed in cosmetics in Europe for a reason - some research has shown that they are found in tumor cells.

I don't put anything on my skin that is a petroleum product; oils made from nuts %26amp; vegetables (olives, almonds) are better.

I use products from L'Occitane because they are made in France and can't use these possible cance causing ingredients.

Some quotes:

';In January 2003 the European Union banned the use

of these chemicals. By September 2004, all cosmetics and personal care products sold in the member states of the European Union will have to be free of substances considered CMR I and CMR II (carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxins). ';

';Among the banned petroleum byproducts are parabens, used for preserving products. Recent research has linked parabens to breast cancer, and a number of natural personal care companies have already phased them out of most or all of their formulations.';What is the big deal about sulfates in beauty products?
Lathering up your hair may feel satisfying, but all that sodium-laurel sulfate and detergent is actually incredibly drying and irritating. Which is why celeb stylist Chaz Dean has declared his Hollywood salon a lather-free zone. The salon’s Wen products contain none of the damaging chemicals found in other shampoos, and they purport to re-train hair into a state of optimal health and good behavior. (Ask Halle Berry, Jennie Garth, or Meg Ryan. They’ll tell you it’s true.)
It is a detergent that is too strong for human skin. It can make some peoples hair fall out.

  • ';Beauty is but a skin deep';.......How important is one's character in signifying her beauty within?

This means the inner character of a person is more important than her outside appearance...how true and precise is this belief in the age of materialism?';Beauty is but a skin deep';.......How important is one's character in signifying her beauty within?
To me it is of utmost importance. I would rather work or be with someone that was honest, trustworthy, honorable, than someone that looked great, with none of the other traits. A Beautiful girl does not need to look at her outfit or how she looks like... Yes, ii can say tat beauty is important but the most important things is her inner beauty but not her physically appearance. For me, a beautiful girl would have a gold heart and good attitude~ Report Abuse

    most important
I know some extremely beautiful women who are seriously ugly because of their personalities.

People who are not so attractive in appearance can radiate a glow from within because of their inner beauty, and become beautiful in appearance in everyone's eyes.

Beauty is within the person and the outside appearance is insignificant.
A person's character tells us alot about their inner beauty. I believer inner beauty is so much better than outer beauty. As far as materialism, it depends how much value a person places on material items if it affects their character. Everyone like to be comfortable. But, at what cost?

Is there a natural way to lighten a beauty mark?

I was born with a reddish/brown fairly dark circle on my left temple. People call it a beauty mark but I don't find it very attractive. Its pretty small but very noticable when my hair is pulled back. Is there a natural way to lighten it? Also I have freckels I'd like to lighten too. I got them from my Swedish/Finnish mom. I have the worst genetic luck. Brown eyed blonde haired freckle face anyone? Is there a natural way to lighten a beauty mark?
freckles are possible to get rid of, so maybe a beauty mark can get rid of too. if you have oily skin, mix cucumber, apple cider vinegar and lemon. apply to face with cotton and leave on for 15 min. wash off with hot water. if you have dry skin, replace the cucumber with honey.

TEA TREE OIL! it also evens out skin tone its cheap [about $10 a bottle] and is sold at trader joe's.

queen helen's mint julep masque, available at walmart for about $3. use no more than once or twice a week tho.

    witch hazel

    rosehip oil

clean %26amp; clear cooling daily pore toner [it contains glycolic acid, which means it evens out skin tone. it might help with ur problem]

i heard that lemon juice on cotton works on scars, so maybe it can work on ur beauty mark. its a natural bleach but only use this if the above products dont work. also dont use if you have sensitive skin. i used it and it made my skin red and irritated. it has also helped alot of ppl tho.

if you have anymore questions, email me at secretivemistake

Just use a bit of liquid or powder foundation on those spots, just remember to wash your face before you put it on and before you go to sleep so you dont break out.

Why has the western world become obssessed with beauty and aging?

Everywhere you look no matter the race or gender; everyone is concerned about aging and not being beautiful enough. Why is it so important to look 20 when you are 60, aging is a natural occurance. Why has the western world become obssessed with beauty and aging?
We watch a lot of tv and the young/beautiful people on there are what we aspire to be.

Also, no one wants to loose their significant other or their ability to ';get a date'; so thats another reason people get obsessed, its a matter of relationship survival. Why has the western world become obssessed with beauty and aging?
    Vanity and Youth

People liked to be liked I guess and pretty youthful people get noticed.

Shallow I know ,but sadly thats the human race.

Asia is obscessed with being white or blonde?

    Whats with that

    Same reason I guess.

What's the difference between conventional beauty and unconventional beauty?

conventional can refer to the 'american beauty' aka classic features such as strong feminine cheekbones, large-ish eyes and a dazzling smile

unconventional can have the above features but also have an unique face, maybe even an 'ugly' feature that they make look beautiful

their face could be more sharp that most, or maybe more exotic but still beautiful

    convetional:

    http://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl0/2鈥?/a>

    unconventional:

    http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i179/i鈥?/a>

both are striking in their own ways ^-^What's the difference between conventional beauty and unconventional beauty?
I think when people refer to conventional beauty they mean features that are thought by the majority to be the most attractive. Facial features such as large eyes, full lips, high cheekbones everything in proportion. As opposed to someone with maybe a too large nose, thinner lips or smaller eyes. Blonde hair, tanned skin and thinness is seen as conventional beauty by most people, whereas pale skin and red hair not so much.

What would be a good audition song for Beauty and the Beast?

Im auditioning for the musical Beauty and the Beast in a few months and i want to get to work on an audition song. I plan on auditioning for the part of the Beast, which is a rich, baritone voice. Any suggestions? What would be a good audition song for Beauty and the Beast?
Don't sing Music of the Night! It's very overdone and also not suitable for that role - while the voice type is similar, the style is wrong. Look for another Alan Menken song - he wrote the music for BATB and you're always best to find another song by the same composer but from a different show wherever possible. He's written a lot of good songs so see what you can find that you like. What would be a good audition song for Beauty and the Beast?
Maybe ';Santa Fe'; from Newsies...but that's more like tenor, rather than baritone...and it might not have the right feel for the Beast. But I would look into more Alan Menken music.
';Music of The Night'; from The Phantom of The Opera.

Is there beauty schools just to get a certificate in professional hair coloring?

Usually you have to get your license in cosmetology, that's the way the state board will certify you to work on people, but once you have your license you can specialize in color only by taking advanced learning courses. You should check the laws in your state, google your STATE BOARD OF COSMETOLOGY, ESTHETICS AND BARBERING.

  • Do women and men have different beauty standards?

I say that because women will point out what women they think are ugly, but the same women they think are ugly some men find attractive.

Why is it that women and men seem to have different beauty standards?Do women and men have different beauty standards?
I dunno b/c haha LOL! has put it very well.

women make up all this rubbish about overweight women being ';real women'; and saying ';i am not fat i am just curvy';. it makes them feel better about attributes of themselves that are conventionally unattractive to sugar coat them somehow.

whereas men are brutally honest which is better then lying but sometimes they need to keep it zipped and not say anything.

women are not really going achieve anything from hearing about how ugly they are. i am not exactly a beauty and i have had some comments from men which have done me no good to hear. I dunno b/c haha LOL! is a perfect example of this. what can sarah jessica parker do to change her face? so why point it out unless you expect her to be able to do something about it?

at the end of the day what can i do about my appearence? nothing

so why mention it other then for the purpose of wanting to get me upset?

and why should i have to change myself to please them? what would i achieve? probably just more unwanted attention because as well as being called ugly, i don't want to think of myself as some random bloke's w*nk fantasy. both seem just as unpleasant as one another.

you can't win. so i just say f*ck people. who cares about pleasing anyone? because many are just going to find something to pick at or do something you don't like no matter what you do or who you are.Do women and men have different beauty standards?
You are right about that but it also goes the other way too.

No man in his right mind likes that horse faced woman from Sex and the City. We all think she's a horse-faced ugo. I don't know if it's Sarah Jessica-Parker or who but horse-faced should say it all.

Now, any woman who talks of her is going to say she is beautiful. And she is going to tell you you are ';wrong'; if you disagree. I think it has to do with:

    A) who they identify with - those they identify with are therefore more attractive.

    B) evening things out. So they have to be unimpressed with women who might be more attractive than them. And they have to make too much about the women not as attractive. This keeps their feelings of jealousy/guilt in check.
women find women who they connect to more attractive than actual gorgeous females

I could post a girl here with huge breasts, a perfect body and a gorgeous feminine face, men would absolutely love her but females would be more jealous than anything
Because Men are Men and Women are Women AND Because Beauty IS IN The Eye of the Beholder.
    Uh...because...men and women are...different.
the truth is men have no standards.....most of the men do look for natural beauties than some makeup laden being
people have different beauty standards. each one has his own standard
i have NOTHING against the horse faced woman!! you just proved his point
I think it's just an individual thing.

What would a predatory salesperson who sells overpriced beauty products look for in a shopper?

Sometimes i people watch at the local strip mall.....and there is this person with a stand hawking overpriced beauty products, like nail polish for an outrageously inflated price..........i notice that they target certain people and overlook others.

Curious.....what are those people looking for in passerby? What is it about their physical appearance / assumed personality traits that makes them target some and ignore others? What would a predatory salesperson who sells overpriced beauty products look for in a shopper?
Most of them would target people who look high maintenance or seem to have quite a bit of money to spend. Salesmen use different techniques to lure in customers (I'm sure you've heard of foot-in-the-door, door-in-the-face, low-balling, etc.). They are targeting people who they thing those techniques will work on. People who are gullible, people who will listen or will want that bargain that's too-good-to-be-true.What would a predatory salesperson who sells overpriced beauty products look for in a shopper?
They look for people who either seem to be looking at the product or who makes eye contact.
    ugliness :-/
he is looking for gullible rich people and ugly poor people to buy his stuff

Why do most white female actresses have factory beauty?

I mean they all look very commercialized and the same in some sense. Even the young ones like Miley Cyrus and Megan Fox. They have the same, hair styles, same makeup, same clothing, same everything. When it comes to black female actresses there is much variety from the way they style their hair, their look, and the way they dress. Why do most white female actresses have factory beauty?
It is not that these white women coincidentally look like each other, it is that they are given these positions because they fit this social ideal of female beauty (social ideal, not necessarily real). White, middle class (or passing as such), thin, gender conforming, etc. is the stereotype. Women actresses who deviate from this type of course are more various in their appearances and behaviors. Sadly, being a black woman, especially a dark skinned black woman is considered to be deviating from that cultural standard, so black female actresses are all among those who vary in some way from that hollywood norm of beauty. Why do most white female actresses have factory beauty?
Because it's obvious that the host female is often times the most socially dependent member of a society. It's all about 'fitting in' and appeasing men; which of course seeing that men value women largely for their *beauty and sexuality, 'fitting in' for women most often entails molding their physical appearance and sexual morals to those that appease the host males.

*I'm not sure why women feel that a false appearance, or cosmetic enhancers would actually make them attractive, but then again women were never known to be the most rational of the species.
those are not actresses they are celebrity personalities......now if you look at your TRUE ACTRESSES they seem to be the unattractive ones look at the list of academy award winners and those nominated and you will see what i mean
They tend to all use the same hairstylists, makeup artists, and fashion designers so that's why they look alike. If they did those things themselves, they would look quite different from each other.
Perhaps the factories where they were built ran out of color and could only produce white ones.
I didn't notice that about female actresses but then again I usually focus on the men actors. :)
probably because they share the same stylists and makeup artists and go by what's popular for the moment.
Fashion seems to go by what sells. A model's body literally is a product or service.

I would recommend checking with the book collectos over at RarityGuide.com

Someone there might know how much that copy is worth. How much is a 1955 copy of Black Beauty worth?
The age of a book means nothing. If it is a first edition, signed by the author or exceedingly rare, then it could be worth a little unless it was mass produced. Check on the website below and put in the exact details of your book. A 1955 edition could only be worth $1 (70p).
A great place to find out is ValueJockey.com. It is free. You can post a picture of it there, that really helps. Good Luck!!!
It's probably only worth a few dollars, unless it's a hard bound first edition in a perfect book with the dust jacket. There were zillions of those books printed.

    2. They contain time tested ingredients with proven efficacy

    3. The natural products can supply several essential nutrients to the skin too and help cure skin ailments etc.

How does hollywood control our idea of beauty?

I'm doing a research paper on this, and I was wondering any good books or webpages that would help support this. Thanks! How does hollywood control our idea of beauty?
It's not just Hollywood. Good looks and popularity have always gone hand in hand. Why, I don't know, but it seems to be the American way. Regarding Hollywood controlling our ideas, I would say ';influencing'; is a better term. Everything that comes out of Hollywood is 100% fantasy, so don't let a movie control your own beliefs or compromise your standards. Beauty is only skin deep. It's what's inside that counts. If you remember to do so, revisit some of today's gorgeous stars and starlets about 50 years from now and you'll see what I mean. How does hollywood control our idea of beauty?
does anyone really take Hollywood serious.

    Hollywood is all nonsense
Hollywood controls the public's idea of beauty by endorsing and portraying women and men with multiple plastic surgeries as ';beautiful.'; The public wants to be ';beautiful'; too so they strive to be what they can never be because ';beautiful'; is fake.
i think its because everything is turned onto sex and its just sick lol they act like thin and blond is whats sexy and its not dont get me wrong but there are a few hot women that are on tv but they arent real. i have 2daughters and its hard to find shows that i can watch with them in the room, but i dont think thats what you are looking for but thats how i feel about it. what happened to full house, friends, wonder years shows you could safely watch with your kids?

It's a complicated procedure! And it really depends on the rough material.

In the US, Ted Themelis sells special ovens and equipment for heat treatment. He also gives courses. You can reach him via his website: http://www.themelis.com/

Keep in mind that star rubies will not have been heat treated since the heating process will alter the microscopic needle-like inclusions that create their visual effects.

  • What is a good price, per week to lease beauty salon space in Australia?

I am considering renting out space in an Adelaide beauty salon to provide general beauty services. She has quoted me $120 per week. I have had another salon quote $165 per week for make-up services only. tthe doctor, spa, hair salon, mom, sisters, aunts,,,ppl like that. the doctor is never ever wrong and spa ppl make their living on perfecting skin. at the right hair salon, none of the cheap stuff, they have great products and a wealth of hair info. your family is great for tips on what they have tried and they know more about you and most likely have the same skin and hair issues as you.
Maybe some books? There's a great book by Sephora that teaches you about beauty (make up tips, skin tips, hair tips etc.). I think that would be a good place to start to see if it's right for you.
Well i'm not good at that stuff but i would suggest a make up place like sephora or grown up place that sells make up. They may be able to teach you some tips for a good buisness.

How important is beauty to you?

If you were to become ugly or horribly mutated, how much would that affect you? I believe we are slaves to beauty. How important is beauty to you?
Lots, and yes we are slaves to beauty. This is America and it is expected if downright unamerican not to folllow the scene. No I kid you but it does keep the economy humming along.;;;.How important is beauty to you?
as you know beauty always go along with brain. definitely, if at all i am faced with such a problem, i dont think it will affect me as long as my other senses are in perfect condition, as beauty is insignificant when compared to our intellect. in fact beauty is slave to our body and we rule beauty. one can always beautify their minds as it will go a long way in establishing good health.
we do have inner beauty, rite? don't judge a book by it's cover. I admit that beauty affects us alot. but by having ugly outlook, it encourages us to behave beautifully..

If still we can't accept our condition, there is plastic surgery rite? ^_^
10 to 30 year old -beauty is fashionable

31 to 40 year old - beauty is a must

41 to 100year old - wasting money on beauty product is a must.

So this is what beauty can cost us.

Become ugly/mutated is always a heartbreaking to humans. So you think this way. you will felt you are the pretty one in the world.
I wouldn't mind it, because i like being myself. Beautiful or not. The problem is that other people would cruelly judge me. I don't care how other people think of me, but it would be annoying. So far we all don't have a face thing on. Isn't that weird?
i have to be honest, i would be devastated, i am very superficial, i judge alot by apearences, real slave of beauty ia am
yes in fact every woman in the world couldnt possible survive without the make up, clothing, perfume, lotion, hand bags, or any other ways to ehance beauty in themselves. people today are becoming too aware of themselves to actually think about other more important things in this world like war in iraq, supporting our troops, and feeding the poor.
I just hope if that happens (God forbid) that i already have a wonderful husband who will love me for what's on the inside.

But i am consumed with looks. I HAVE to wear make up everyday. But i do think the way you look is a reflection of who you are. I would not want to be seen as a sloppy messy girl who never combs her hair or looks nice. That's just not who i am.
well it doesnt mean alot but if the guy loves u then it shouldnt mean a thing to him right ladies?
    because it is important
It's so important since men only love beautiful women!!

Philosophers: Is absolute beauty completely independent of the senses?

Thanks to all your thoughts on this query. Have a great day to all!Philosophers: Is absolute beauty completely independent of the senses?
    Yes.

Beauty is indeed limited by perception through one or more of the senses.... that is why it is relative.... the concept of an absolute beauty therefore must be independent of senses... in other words, 'absolute' beauty must be non-physical, because any physical beauty can not but be relative to the uniqueness of sensual experience.Philosophers: Is absolute beauty completely independent of the senses?
    no

Must go hang out my beautiful laundry - lol
I would say beauty can only exist with the senses, as it is something we learn through life.

This is why different people see different things as beautiful
Beauty can be none, any and all senses, that is the beauty of beauty.
Yes it's called death. As even in life beaty is in the eye of the beholder. And that eye is but one of our senses.
Beauty is objective, as it is a virtue. See Aristotles 'nicomachian ethics' %26amp; virtue ethics for details.
I would say no - surely it's impossible to describe something beautiful without referring to at least one of the senses? I may be wrong. Try it, see if you can.
No. I don't think there is such a thing as 'absolute beauty' that can exist apart from the senses and the physical world in general.

I think that Platonic Dualism is a dead philosophy, an intellectual artifact from the Bronze Age. One of the implications of platonism is that concepts like beauty actually exist in some sort of parallel universe of abstract ideas. However, as a monist, I think that platonic ideals only exist between your ears--the result of a physical brain, and nothing more. So, beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder--if there was no beholder with a physical brain, beauty would not exist...
I get where you are coming from.

Like my other note on bees and flowers, generally it is an arbitrary decision as to what is beautiful, but underlying independent beauty can come from things beyond the senses, such as independent mathematical truths.

Such harmonies are much more accessible in music or visual splendor. If we assume sensation comes from the mind it must be sensed to be appreciated.
    Hmmmm...... YES.
Pure positive affect is inherent, and the basis for the experience of beauty.
We are absolute beauty when freed absolutely from evil.
If I were talking Absolute beauty, that is, of the Absolute in terms of being at one with the core spiritual center that we are each capable of experiencing, then yes, I have experienced that kind of absolute beauty in meditation type circumstances. The experience of such beauty must come in through the brain via another route other than the five senses. Through the pineal gland or known or unknown inner receptive center. I just know there are other levels of perception available to humans.
    Hi Third p

No, i think the beauty is relative which means that maybe you like some thing and found that it 's beautiful but i don't like. it independent on how you receiving and how to thinking about it.

How can I check the expiration date of a beauty product?

How do i check out the expiration date of a beauty product? Originally packaging is not available; the bottle does not have the manufacturing date as well. Only the batch number. I want to know if my Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 is still okay for use as well as my Kanebo Sensai Lotion II. Thanks! How can I check the expiration date of a beauty product?
You would have to call up the company and speak to someone and give them the batch number so they can figure it out because there's no other way of knowing. How can I check the expiration date of a beauty product?
A lot of beauty products have symbol on the back or bottom of the bottle that looks like a half open jar with a number in it. This indicates how many months the product is good for after you open it. I know clinique has these but not sure about the other. If you can't find it, then i would say the clarifying lotion will be good for about a year (or until the alcohol evaporates) and the lotion 1-2 if it is in a pump container. If it is a jar then make sure it does not have any funny smells or discoloration before you use it. If the lotion has antioxidants like vitamin C it is only good for about 6 months.

I read the book last August and really enjoyed it. I loved the sequel REBEL ANGELS even more. Offhand, it would be hard to pick out just one event that was *the climax* of the book. There were many exciting parts...but their traveling to the realms and the death of their friend who chose to remain behind instead of getting married would be what I could consider a top choice.

What is the first thing you notice in a beauty salon?

Do you notice how the stylist is dressed, her hair, the style of the shop, how much business comes in, or are you ther to just get your hair done you don't care other stuff. What is the first thing you notice in a beauty salon?
First of all, being a hair stylist myself, I don't cut my own hair someone else does. I style it yes, but it would be impossible to cut my own hair and do a good job. I cut the front a lot of times but that's about it. So looking at a hair stylist hair doesn't mean she is good at cutting or coloring hair because most likely she didn't cut her own hair.

Hopefully most people would notice what the other clients look like when they walk out of the salon. A good indication of how good the stylist are.

The best way to find a good stylist is to find someone that has a great hair style and ask them who does their hair. Make sure they have the same type hair you do.What is the first thing you notice in a beauty salon?
The first thing I notice is the smell. I love how salons smell for some reason. Then I notice what the stylists are wearing and how their hair is done but only because I admire a lot of their looks. I don't make a big fuss about my hair but it's nice to get my hair cut by someone who's look I admire.
How strong is the smell, and is it okay or deadly?

What is the attitude/countenance of the staff like? (are they bedraggled or enjoying their day?) These are the 2 things that most affect me. I'm not too attached to the environment, provided it's reasonably clean, that's secondary.

I understand, but don't like seeing hairdressers whose hair looks like they've tried every color %26amp; cut then gave up...we all have our days, but it's a little unnerving.

Kinda like havin' a dentist with rotten %26amp; missing front teeth.
I notice the attitudes of the people that work there. You walk into a salon and you immediately feel one way or another, comfortable, or uncomfortable. I've been in some seriously snobby places that acted as if they didn't care if they had your business or not.
I notice that most hairdressers need a hairdresser.. they may be good with their customers but a lot of times I went to a hairdresser and their own hair looked just lousy.. still they did a good job...so that's all that matters to me..xxx
the first thing that I notice is how professianal the shop looks , if it looks welcoming. That always influences whether i will return or not, and if the staff look immaculate!
I don't go very often because my mom is a hair stylist but i always notice the strong smells from the chemicals to do various hair styles. Sometimes they give me wicked head aches.
I always notice the stylist - her clothes and hair. If HER hair doesn't look good, then I sure don't want her doing mine.

Next is how the shop looks.
at first i notice the shop u know how it looks.... then i look at the stylist hair, if her hair is nice am prettiy sure shes good at styling if its a mess i dont think all cut my hair there
I first look at the stylist hair, if it is nice then i get it done, if not...then i look else where.

What is the difference between freckles and beauty marks?

what is the difference? i have a bunch of tiney little dots all over me i think they might be freckles. my skin is like goldenish tan. i have counted like 30 birth marks/beauty marks/freckles in less then 5 minutes. and i know i have more.

so whats the difference? What is the difference between freckles and beauty marks?
well freckles are the things covering your body that you just described.

beauty marks are kind of like moles (not gross hairy ones lol)

that appear above your lip or near your eye - basically in a position that it flattering and feminine (think marilyn monroe and christina aguleira)What is the difference between freckles and beauty marks?
You have freckles my dear!! Beauty Marks are NOT MOLES!!!! not even close!! Moles protrude, they are unsightly...beauty marks are subdermal...flat and considered to be marks of beauty since the days of Cleopatra...note many Hollywood stars sport beauty marks....Cindy Crawford actually has a mole but she is beautiful so she gets credit anyway...if you are lucky and have one near your eyes, lips or cheek---fantastic!! See www.hottiedots.com
Freckles are usually caused by the sun and fall in places where the sun shines, such as on your face or arms - if you have marks ';where the sun don't shine'; - those are moles. ';Beauty marks'; and moles are the same thing - they can be flat or lumps and usually aren't clustered like freckles.
you can feel beauty marks but you can't feel freckles
    they are freakles

beauty marks are bigger = moles

What is a modern way for Sleeping Beauty to fall into her deep sleep?

I'm not sure how to do it, but it's a modern blend of classic tales. Sleeping Beauty is Rosie. She and her friends are all trying to win the Prince Charming, Eric. Somehow, the night after the Spring Fling, she falls into a sleep and is woken by something, but it isn't Eric. It's something else. I'm tihnking she wakes up from a nightmare? About Eric being a monster or something.

But how does she fall asleep in the first place? An injury? Or some sort of surgery? What is a modern way for Sleeping Beauty to fall into her deep sleep?
Someone could lace her drink while at the Spring Fling... one of her enemies? What is a modern way for Sleeping Beauty to fall into her deep sleep?
maybe she's a closet heroin junkie?
she falls asleep when she drinks tainted punch
Pricked her finger on a cactus?

Was out exploring caves and got hit by a stalagmite (or a stalactitie)?
umm depends on how modern you want to get.

Normally I'd say something like... Date rape drug, or chloroform, but that's a bit over the top.

NyQuil is pretty good at putting people to sleep...

If you're going with surgery obviously an anesthetic would work.
maybe concussion playing some type of sport, or even just tripping and hitting head

    could pass out drunk... haha

could be like super sad and cry herself to sleep, i dont know why

i don't think that surgery would be the best thing... maybe she's just tired and needs a nappy-poo :)
Roofies. Or too much drinking/recreational drugs?
maybe she goes into a coma somehow. and you could make it romantic osrt of like the guy visits her at the hospital because he feels really bad, or he feels like it was his fault. even though it wasnt. or she could have tried to save him somehow, and she got hit and went into a coma. i dont now if this is a myth or not, but people talk to patients who are in comas so they can hold on to reality and possibly come back. and he could come to the hospital everyday and talk to her and tell him all of her secrets because he thinks she cant hear him, but she really can. then one day he summons up the courage to kiss her and she MIRACULOUSLY comes out of the coma in that instant. lol, it's corny, but if you write it right, it would be cool!

    idk.

and i expect a cut of your pulitzer money! lol, just kidding.

    good luck!
Maybe she's in a coma from a car accident, or an accidental overdose.

Since the original Sleeping Beauty was put into a spell by a fairy godmother to counter-act the spell of the evil fairy (who wanted her to die), maybe you should have her put into an induced coma for neurosurgery that she wouldn't wake up from because too much drugs were used.

And maybe a doctor comes and gets her out of the coma.

In the real origianal version the prince's mother was an ogre. Maybe you can make him an ogre too.
She can accidentally date rape drug or hallucinogenic.

She could have too much to drink and just pass out.

She could get a bump on the head that causes her to pass out.

    She could get mono.
Perhaps someone slipped something in her drink?

An interesting thing, maybe she has a certain illness. No idea what it is called, but you can probably google it.

A girl at my boyfriends job has some illness where if she does not get enough vitamin B, she collapses into a deep sleep, which is very hard to break out of. Usually she cannot wake up herself, someone will need to give her a shot of something to make her body wake up. Her nickname is also Sleeping Beauty.

That would be interesting. She is so excited for the dance that she completely forgets to watch her diet and make sure she is eating/drinking plenty of vitamin B. So, maybe on her way home she falls into that deep slumber. Whatever wakes her must have been very dramatic to do the job.

It would be an interesting twist, since this Sleeping Beauty is in danger of falling into slumber every day, and not just by some evil witch.
How about a mild electric shock, like from a slightly defective toaster, or a blow-dryer? Or maybe fumes, such as from an odd brand of a pretty nail-polish? Or a cut from a pair of nail-clippers/manicure scissors?

It can't be anything spectacular and unusual. It should be something extremely common and perfectly ordinary, if it's closely parallelling the original story.

The point of using the spindle in the original story (no pun intended -- honest!) was that by a certain age, *every* girl in the kingdom, no matter what her social status, would be taught to use one -- and *every* household in the kingdom had at least one spindle, and most households had several.

The evil fairy didn't know, at the time of the curse, anything about what this baby's life and interests would be, except that she was female, wealthy, and royal. The fairy had to pick a type of object that was SO common in society that the baby princess would be absolutely certain to come across one of it some time before she grew up.

A modern version of the tale needs to find an equivalent that is equally common and universally used by girls such as your heroine. Are you including a modern equivalent of the original king's decree that all the spindles in his kingdom be destroyed and outlawed, so as to save his daughter from the fairy's curse?
    Keep it simple:

She's exhausted from Spring Fling, she is involved in a fender bender and is given a sedative and she falls into a deep sleep/coma from an improper medication/odd injury in the accident, until she's wakened by a nightmarish dream that she is falling... give her a great realistic and beautiful dream that degenerates into a terrifying falling nightmare that wakes her abruptly. She wakens frightened, disoriented, unsure of where or who she is, pulse racing....and your story proceeds from there.
lalalallaal blabala woooo yea! i dunno!

My prompt is that relying on other people for self-esteem is damaging. What are some reasons i would use to support this prompt? What are some topics i could write about for my 10th grade essay on beauty?
Relying on others for self-esteem prevents the development of self-esteem and creates a negative feedback cycle.

As it relates to beauty, relying on others for self-esteem is dangerous because as you age, you have less outer beauty to offer and less positive reinforcement from others.

True beauty comes from within. Other people can't see it as well as you can feel it. They won't reward what they can't see. A happy, positive, peaceful person will naturally smile more frequently creating a beautiful appearance on the outside. This process can't be initiated by an outside force. What are some topics i could write about for my 10th grade essay on beauty?
Look up the word 'beauty' in your dictionary. Take note of several points and then ask questions using who, how, why, when, where and what.

Answer them. Make a paragraph from each of the above points.

How did you support yourself while attending beauty school?

I want to go to beauty school, will need to take a loan for tution. Will attend full time so not alot of time for work. I need to make a round $14-$18 an hour for about 25 hours a week. How did you support yourself while attending beauty school?
I have also decided to go to hair school. I want to go full time so I plan on cutting down my hours as a waitress.

I work at a nice (not fancy) restaurant in Oklahoma City and do pretty well. It is mostly easy once you get the hang of it and if you are money hungry, knowledgable, and work at a well liked place you can make a lot. Your hours will be really flexible. I would say I average 500-700 a week no problem. I think I work about 25 hours.

I think it would be worth checking out. That is also what my succesful hairdresser did throughout school.Good Luck. How did you support yourself while attending beauty school?
If the school participates in the federal aid programs complete the application at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to be considered for grants and low-interest loans.
Most students work...they ether work after school, or do part time(From 9-to 2:30.), and then work.

What are the ups and downs of beauty and skincare?

My friend needs these answers for a speech shes writing.

    Can anyone help?

She wants to know what the good sides and bad sides are for beauty and skin care products.

If you could give some links to this information that would be great (:

Thank you! What are the ups and downs of beauty and skincare?
    Ugh where to begin...

    The Bad:

-It is very time consuming...applying makeup can take anywhere from 5 minutes to half an hour...

-Some products take practice to apply, which is a hassle because it means more time has to be added to your routine.

-It gets expensive to repurchase products on a regular basis.

-Some products can break you out, dry your skin out, cause allergic reactions...it can be a pain! Your playing russian roullette in a sense with your skin.

-Makeup colours can be confusing, every company is different, so a Revlon Ivory can be different from a Cover Girl Ivory. It makes for a long shopping day then to get home and realise it is way darker then the sample in the store...yeah not cool.

    The Good:

-It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. You are a girl and it is awesome that no guy can experience what you feel when wearing it.

-You can change your look by using a different eyeliner or colour. It is fun to experiement. Heck even dying your hair can make you go from dark femme fatel to bubbly and personal blonde!

-You feel so glamourous and one in a million with makeup

-You can always change up the routine, there is no set way or technique.

-New products are fun to experiment with!

    - It's hard to explain but it is just so rewarding to have someone compliment your skin, or makeup, or something you have acomplished with the use of beauty and skincare tools. To wake up every morning and think about how to make your eyes pop, or to see that stubborn zit is finally gone thanks to a new cream! It just feels so good. What are the ups and downs of beauty and skincare?
    Good

It might help clear your skin

    Brings out inner confidence

    Bad

    Might have an allergic reaction

It might make your skin more sensitive

The product might be of high potentcy

What beauty advise would you give your younger self?

Im 15 and got a question for all you maturer people out there :D

What advise would you give your younger self ?

Whether it be to start plucking your eyebrows or put more sun tan lotion on, just want some tips on what to do now at my age so I have no regrets when im older

Thanks =]What beauty advise would you give your younger self?
i grew up in the 80's...boy, where do i even begin???

    1) do NOT spend 8 hours in the sun without wearing sunblock!!!

    2) asians were NEVER meant to be BLOND!

    3) drink water instead of soda

    4) have fun with fashion, make up and hair! now's the time to do it

    5) celebrate your individual beauty and don't try to look like everyone elseWhat beauty advise would you give your younger self?
Im 22. I would tell myself to use ONLY natural/organic beauty products and health products. for EVERYTHING I use. and I wish natural health magazine was around when I was your age! that would have been my fav! I would have read that for sure! I also would tell myself to shop at natural health food stores for products or Vitacost! vitacost has the best prices for natural/organic facewash, toothpaste, bodywash ,and everything you need! vitacost has better prices then the local natural health food store.organic toothpaste is like $6 at the natural store VS $3ish for toothpaste.organic facewash from the store is like $12 VS $7 from vitacost.

It's so important and better for your health! to use all natural products.

toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, bodywash,鈥?up remover, and so much more!
    1. Don't plaster your hair to your head; the natural ponytail is much better. - I did this when I was your age, not sure if girls still do it.

    2. Use Sunscreen! - You don't want wrinkles or worse when you get older.

    3. If your eyebrows are seperated and not one wait to pluck. Better yet, go to a licensed beautician to get a professional wax job.

    4. Don't color your hair, natural always looks best.

    5. Moisturize - young and old its always nice to have soft skin

    6. Drink tons of water and eat right - healthy = beautiful

    7. Don't look to celebs for the ';right'; way to look - most likely you are more beautiful than you know/give yourself credit for!
I'm 19 so not too much older but I suggest you use a moisturizer every day, preferably with SPF 15. Everyone in my family, my mom, grandma, and late great grandma, started using Oil of Olay at about 16 and they all had smooth soft skin and very few wrinkles. My mom says my great grandma had the most beautiful skin up until the day she died and she swore it was because of the moisturizer. I started using it at about 15 and I know it even improved my skin's texture and it helped me get less break outs.
    This is a great question!

The first thing I would definitely tell my younger self to fake tan instead of laying out (I'm 25 and starting to get paranoid about wrinkles/age spots, even though I don't have any yet).

    The second thing would be ';Stop picking at your face and go to a dermatologist.';

    The third would be ';Listen to your mom when she tells you that your clothes look silly - she knows what she's talking about!';
If you ever lose weight don't gain it back. Ive recently lost a lot of weight and gained every pound of it back because i got depressed. Now im trying to get myself back on a diet (Ive been trying for 3 months)

Don't color your hair to much stay with you're natural color. That's why it was given to you. I have very damaged hair between dying it and with all the products i put in it (My hair is curly and very hard to control and style)

Don't use face powder/concealer etc. EVER!! Just stick with simple mascara, eye shadow, eye liner etc dont over do it uoure still a young girl, no need for makeup.
    - Drink lots of water. It's good for your health and great for your skin!

    - Exercise. You may be thin when you are young, but trust me. It will catch up with you! (My parents always told me that, and i never did anything about it. Now I exercise like crazy just to maintain my figure)

    - Moisturize! You need to make sure that you are moisturizing your skin all the time. As well as washing your makeup off before you go to bed. If you moisturize early on in life then your skin will be fresh looking when you are ';older';.
Don't smoke cigarettes - they're really bad for the skin (especially around the lips!) not to mention the lungs. Plus they smell baaaaad.

    Sunscreen is your friend.

Eat a well balanced diet - I was one of those girls who could eat anything and not gain weight - until I was 30!

Exercise even if you hate it, don't use diet drugs or purging.

Drink lots of water and get lots of rest.

Drink only slight amounts of alcohol, do not use drugs at all. (These will ruin your looks, and make you look old, old, old fast.)
I'm 26 and looking back now I wish I could tell myself in high school to just be happy with my body. I was always covering up and wearing baggy clothes cause I thought I was fat, now I realize how great I looked. Also don't be afraid to experiment. People are going to be telling you soon enough to grow up and look more serious. Have fun with fashion now.

    I hope this helps!
Don't shave your eyebrows! Pluck them.

Don't use sun-in, it's bad for your hair. Really bad.

Don't use soap to remove makeup, use cleanser.

Orange/red lipstick doesn't look good on anyone.
i would say 2 a younger me , quit puttin so much black eyeliner n sliver eyeshadow on ( i use think this was a gd look at 13 when it really wasn't)
Take good care of your skin. Keep it clean and healthy, and don't pile on too much makeup. Stick with a more natural, earthy look.
I would have to say, don't go blonde if you aren't a natural blonde to begin with.
Don't wear too much make-up and never squeeze spots!

How much should I expect to pay for the following hair services at a beauty salon?

High-lighting roots, haircut, and blow-drying all together, in Los Angeles, CA?

Is $100 a lot for that? How much should I expect to pay for the following hair services at a beauty salon?
No, $100 is not a lot to pay for that. At our salon you would pay more then that, probly about $130How much should I expect to pay for the following hair services at a beauty salon?
no 100 is definately not a lot...If you know of a salon you could go to the website and check it out...or if you know of any you could get an estimate online.

I'd say about $100-$150 but it really depends where you get it.
    high-lighting roots will be about 40, a cut maybe a 40-50, a blowdry maybe 30, so bout 100-150!
no, for that area that is great!!!

  • Do beauty pageants influence us to judge others by how they look?

I think they do. It makes it hard to have an appearance that is less than perfectDo beauty pageants influence us to judge others by how they look?
yes they doDo beauty pageants influence us to judge others by how they look?
Why else are they held? Certainly not because of why they love their home town or why racism is bad.
I think and have confirmed that it is wired into us to care about appearance and prefer attractive people.
No, take a look at the girls who are in them. Yes, for the most part they are all beautiful but underneath their looks they all have intelligence as well. %26amp; most - when asked - would say they are in the pageant for scholarship money to complete an education. If the pageants do influence someone to only look at the beauty, then that is a weakness inside the person themselves %26amp; not because of the pageants and pageants should not be made the scapegoat for that.
you bet ye they do, when fat becomes a fad, my wife gets first price.
    yes

How would I get started manufacturing herbal beauty products?

I own alot of land where I grow alot of herbs and make my own beauty products from all natural ingredients. At the moment I only make them on a small scale for family and friends etc, but I'd like to register my products and sell them online etc. Is this a complicated process? where should I start? How would I get started manufacturing herbal beauty products?
Ok some of things you need to look at are the following:

Look into what your competition is doing

Do the market research into Price, Product Placement advertising etc.

    Do up a basic business plan with 1 - 3 - 5 year goals.

Get some product testimonials off customers (Friends and family).

Try selling some products through local markets and retail outlets and start off small to keep your overheads down.

Once you know what you bottom line costs are then you know how much you can retail the products for on line.

Then look at eBay and creating your own website.

To help you with your business you can checkout my eBook which is now free.

Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

I mean think about it people see beauty as different things, everyone has different takes on beauty. We can't make the world like us so why shouldn't apply to physical attraction too? I mean even if you think you're pretty or whatever that doesn't mean people will like you does it?Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
Perhaps this quote is trying to imply it not literally that way of having such beautiful eyes. Those eyes are windows of inner spirit or of the heart of the beholder, It tells a lot when expressing something from oneself. These expressions are commonly felt from one's eyes.

The beauty really comes from inside your heart that those eyes can tell more of it. Mostly than words can ever do.

People will like true confidence that they may feel to others. But not conceit that makes it entirely different of how the way one feels or expresses her or his own beauty for oneself and to others. Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
Scientists have studied this question. They had men of different races pick out the beautiful female faces who also represented all races, and the men chose the same faces as being beautiful (regardless of race)

One of the elements of beauty is symmetry, and babies are extremely drawn to symmetry and repelled by things that look chaotic. In other words, even infants recognize beauty.

Physical beauty is much easier to assess than inner beauty is. Physical beauty is a clue to overall health and fertility, so we are also biologically programmed to prefer it. Women, however, are much more attuned to status when it comes to males; a powerful ugly man may have many more lovers than a poor handsome guy.
So what? So, there is spousal abuse in our country does it mean that spousal abuse ought to be permitted from the fact that its going on? Racial discrimination is a fact that occurs, but does it follow that because that there IS racial discrimination that there OUGHT to be racial discrimination? No. Does it follow, then, that because there are different perspectives on beauty that beauty ought to be reduced to a subjective interpretation? No. Secondly, so what if there are different perspectives on beauty. There have been different perspectives on the nature of the earth (whether it was flat or round); in fact, there are still probably some indigenous tribes who believe the earth is flat or that the sun revolves around the earth. But, simply because there were different perspectives on the earth's nature you wouldn't then believe that it follows that knowledge of earth's nature is only a matter of a persons perspective would you? Of course not. So there are differences in perspective, but this also assumes people cannot be wrong about what we believe or perceive to be the case. Unfortunately, it's just contrary to fact--people error in what they believe and perceive as has been shown by the ';earth analogy';. So, such arguments as these cannot justify the claim ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';.
    NO IT ISN'T!!!!!!

Beauty is a learned and taught subject. You learn by osmosis or you are taught by one who knows the subject but it is not in the eye of the beholder.

ONES PERSONAL TASTES %26amp; AESTHETICS ARE IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.

But if beauty is in the eye of the beholder then what the hell are we doing with art schools, art gallaries, museums of art, and even academic studies of the visual arts? What are we doing with them and why are they here?

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder then we would not require the muses nor the curators for what we want for our aesthetics about our home, business, or personal attire. After all, it would all be in the eye of the beholder now wouldn't it?
yes it is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Some of the women and men in the public eye who are considered very beautiful or 'hot' by the general public I find totally repulsive.

Too skinny, overly made up, eyes like a dead fish, phoney

smiles. In the real world if we meet someone who we think is maybe not fantastically good looking and then we get to know them and find out they are really nice, fun, kind and great friends authomatically they become better looking to us. Scientists have proven this in studies over and over.
IT'S ALSO SKIN DEEP, which means.

What's very SWEET, COOL, NICE and TASTY on the outside may be BITTER, SCALDINGLY HOT orthe MOST LETHAL POISON ON THE INSIDE.

So NEVER, accept what is on the outside, for free. ALWAYS TEST/SAMPLE or TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.
Most people see the beauty first, personality second ,first impressions last.

What about inner beauty, thats what attracts people isn't it ?Unless it is a superficial desire
Yes, but our eyes usually don't see things all that differently. There is a definite pattern to what most people find beautiful or aesthetically pleasing.
yeah it kinda does i mean different people have different taste such as in relgion culture personliaty how they dress and other factors that contribute to who they like
not at all. being appealing to the eye is one thing but people are attracted to positive energy. therefore you must have a beautiful soul :)
...i thought it was the camera, its their photograph that captivates the world of beauty!
My idea of beauty is very different from most people's.
    beauty is a broad topic.

it can not be easily justified with a statement.

How many young women look up to beauty pageant winners like Miss America?

Hello. I am doing a paper for school and I was wondering if there was ever any type of survey done to see the percentage of young woman who look up to these figures? Thanks! How many young women look up to beauty pageant winners like Miss America?
I used to look up to them back when I was a naive, misguided teenager. Nowadays, I don't! Sure they may have to answer a question or two, but the vast majority of the competition is based on their looks. They also have to parade around in a bikini which is so degrading.

I certainly enjoy watching Miss America and Miss USA and like to pick out which is the prettiest for fun, but I don't respect them the same as I would a female politician/political advocate such as Gloria Steinem. How many young women look up to beauty pageant winners like Miss America?
me! when i grow up i want to be just like sarah palin *sarcasm*
I'm guessing not many. What is there to look up to ?
not me!! those girls are stupid blondes with fake boobs

How come regular people can't buy beauty products that are only restricted to LICENSED cosmetologists?

There's this hair gel I want, %26amp; it works WONDERS on my wavy hair. I tried it once before, but @ stores like SALLY Beauty Supply, ONLY LC's can buy it.How come regular people can't buy beauty products that are only restricted to LICENSED cosmetologists?
Because most of the time, only licensed cosmetologists are the only ones who have the right equipment which you have to have a license to have one made and some times something in a beauty product is illegal to everyone else but only cosmetologists can it be provided to. Hope this either helps/makes sense!!How come regular people can't buy beauty products that are only restricted to LICENSED cosmetologists?
Because they are professional products and they don't want amateur, non-license people to purchase and use the product.
Its because you have to buy it straight from the salon where you saw it. The beauty supply stores sell at wholesale prices, a perk of being a stylist. Its a piss off, I know.

Im beginning to think that makeup is the same?
I work at a Sallys and we sell everything (except for most perms and some nail products) to anyone! I think it should be the same at all Sallys. If the price tag say 0.00 or the shelf tag says ';PROF'; that means only a LC can buy it.
Are you kidding? You don't have a license, don't you know what irreparable damage you could cause while using hair products without a license? I just recently got a ticket for my unlicensed use of hairspray. Two more offenses and I'll be doing time for sure.
I've never heard of regular hair gels being restricted to unlicensed people at Sally's, though they do restrict items not considered safe for at-home use, such as relaxers. Unless the products include ingredients that are not considered safe for unlicensed use, I don't see what the problem is. Beauty supply stores exclusively for professionals are a different story though. This is where your more reputable brands are sold for professional use and retail, and there is a markup in price for clients.

How to get grants or scholarships for beauty college?

I'm interested in going to beauty college but i'm not sure if i'm willing to pay full price for it. I have a friend of a friend who said he pretty much went for free and i was wondering if anyone knows if that is possible and if so how would i go about doing this. I am a residence of Tempe, AZ.How to get grants or scholarships for beauty college?
It depends if the Beauty College is eligible to award federal financial aid or not. If they are, you need to apply at www.fafsa.ed.gov to see what your eligibility is. If the school is not eligible, then you will need to check directly with them to see what kinds of programs they have to help students financially.

  • What do you think the movie american beauty asks you to think about in life?

i thought it was about appreciating the simple beauty of life (with the plastic bag and all of that and ricky and his obsession with beautiful things) but in english no one seems to agree with me. what do you think? What do you think the movie american beauty asks you to think about in life?
A few years ago I heard a couple of guys interviewed on the radio who were the writers for The Simpsons. They said that in all their episodes they tried to have messages, but opposing messages that cancel each other out. So at the end you're right where you began.

I thought American Beauty was like that. The Kevin Spacey character is fed up at the start of the movie and decides to take command of his life. At first it looks like this was a good thing to do, but in the end it turns out to be wrong. His daughter's friend, who Spacey is hot for, turns out to be a phony, but in a nice way, and he ends up not wanting her. The daughter begins being alienated and rebellious, but ends up finding love (or at least an emotional bond). The military guy next door is one of those characters we see a lot in films and books who is so angry and isolated from the world that he never really understands whats going on. His son might be the smartest character in the film, but he's not happy like you would think he'd be.

The thing with the plastic bag really is great. It's totally abstract. It's amazing that a boy like that would see such beauty in something so random and ordinary.

Anyway, at the end of the movie you realize there isn't really any message. It was just a few days in the life of some strange people. 8^)What do you think the movie american beauty asks you to think about in life?
I personally believe it has something to do with not taking life and material possessions so seriously. Carolyn Burnham in the film felt very stressed with her job and trying to make her life appear perfect. After Lester Burnham quit his job, he seemed much happier although he was making much less money and working in a fast-food restaurant.
I always thought it was something like:

There is no reason to be miserable. If you don't like your life, change it. There is beauty all around; stop and smell the roses while you can.

Which sounds kind of trite, but there you go.
I think it compares fantasy with reality. We all strive for that place where the ';grass is greener';, but in Lester's case, his death was an escape from what was a futile existance

What do you think is the biggest beauty mistake women make?

E.g = plucking their eyebrows into extinction and then drawing caricatures of eyebrows in high arcs way too high on their forehead!

Seriously..what is that al about? What do you think is the biggest beauty mistake women make?
I agree with Jessica King, muffin tops ick.

I really hate the drugged out raccoon eyed smokey eye shadow. What do you think is the biggest beauty mistake women make?
I hate the eyebrows thing, seriously just get them waxed into a normal, human like shape. No need to draw them on with a thin pencil. Disgusting.

    - I hate lip liner.

    - So much foundation if you hug them and your faces touch their makeup rubs off on your face.

    - Thinking they have be super dressed up everywhere they go. You're going to the gas station, I highly doubt anyone cares whether or not you have on your True Religion jeans and Jimmy Choo heels.

    - Tanning until you're orange. That is not a natural skin color. Bronze is good, looking like a human glass of orange juice should be avoided.

    - There's a really pretty girl I know that wears her eyeliner and black cream eyeshadow every single day, I just want to see her without makeup ONE time. It's disgusting and it doesn't make her face look as pretty as she really is.

    - Not taking care of their body or not wearing clothes that fit properly.

    Need I go further?!

By the way, I do none of the above.
I think there are several, but my personal pet peeves are overly tight clothing that is not flattering, overplucked brows, and blue eyeshadow. I also abhor jean capris, but I think that is more of a matter of my personal taste as opposed to an actual mistake.
Wearing clothes that don't fit them. (too small)

There are plenty of bigger women who are great looking but they try to squeeze into stuff because of what size the tag says. It's unflattering. If they wore clothes that fit them, they would look great.

    (In my opinion.)
    muffin tops, i agree.

when they wear hundreds of gold jewelery.

    bright red lipstick.

EYELINER - when they are too old.

    wear hair extensions.

    use fake tan.

get their nails reaaally long, like claws.

i cant think of anymore atm...
a agree about the pencil think eyebrows, but I'd say worse offenses are:

    1) facial piercing

    2) too much make up

    Muffin tops. Yucky.

FFS WEAR SOME PANTS THAT FIT!!

Oh and, nasty smelling old-lady perfume.
    Tattooed eyebrows and eyeliner
Not being natural. I know that make up is fun and you should be creative, but when you're looking like a clown, then we have a serious problem!
Putting on wayyyyy to much make-up or so much perfume you're choking while talking to them....
Yes that's a good one, and the ones that put way too much mascara on their eye lashes
    Using make up in general.
Trying to not look like awhore.
haha...i'd say that...or the infamous muffin top...b/c when your a size 14...you ain't squeezing your a$$ into a 8, but they sure try...

How do I get hot towels for beauty or spa treatments? Can I put them in the microwave?

I'm doing some hand massages for a group of ladies tomorrow and I've heard that by putting a hand mask on them and then wrapping their hands in hot (not wet) towels is really nice.

Any ideas how I can get them hot at the right time? Wouls I be able to put them in the microwave with a bowl of water next to them or would I really need to wet them?

Any answers really appreciated xHow do I get hot towels for beauty or spa treatments? Can I put them in the microwave?
yea, microwave would be best way

good luckHow do I get hot towels for beauty or spa treatments? Can I put them in the microwave?
i am a beauty therapist you dont need to place them in a microwave. A option is to put on the mask wrap the hands in cling - film to keep the heat in and so that the product will absorb more effectively into the skin, leave the mask on for 15mins. Then fill a sink with hot water place small towels in and wring them out and use these to remove the excess mask.
Yes you can put them in the microwave.I do it all the time for my acks an pains.
wen i used to do a wat shave we need hot towels and we put them in the microwave put if i woz you dont put them in dry as it will catch fire put them in damp at least good luck
you could try putting them in the dryer
The microwave is a bit small for that I would have thought, put them in the tumble dryer for 20 minutes instead
keep them on the radiator for an hour
mo just put it i the tumbledrier....microwave will lite it up..
if you did you would have to make them wet. dont ever put a dry towel in the microwave, itll catch fire
Yep microwave I had a party too and it worked PERFECTLY!!! I LOVED it!!

What beauty stuff do you do to yourself?

I go to great extremes to look good. I mean I don't do plastic surgery, but I do go through a long beauty time, I use all kinds of stuff to keep my face and body to keep it looking young, I've been doing this since I was 10. I know it seems crazy, but I want to look good when I'm 50, I don't want to look old, and so far it seems to have worked. I was just wondering what everyone else does to keep themselves beautiful? What beauty stuff do you do to yourself?
I guess my beauty secret #1 would be sunscreen. I wear it every day, no matter what. I keep some at home and at work, and I have a mineral powder sunscreen that I can wear over my makeup as well. Other than that I keep my skin clean, mask about 1x a week, use a microdermabrasion scrub about 1x a week and use a good moisturizing serum and cream at bedtime. In the morning I use a moisturizer with sunscreen.

For my body I use a moisturizing body wash with a scrubby poof, then about 1x a week or so I use a microdermabrasion scrub, especially on my legs before I shave. I moisturize every night before I go to bed, even my feet. The biggest treat to me is a chocolate bath powder that I have (it has real chocolate it in!). It is very yummy and makes my skin super soft afterwards. Also I make sure to use sunscreen all over my body as well.

For my hair I wash it every day to every other day with a good shampoo and conditioner for my hair type. I use a leave-in detangling spray with UV protection. I don't blow dry or straighten my hair, I always let it air dry. I don't brush it, I only comb it with a wide-tooth comb. Every few weeks I use a deep cleaning shampoo to clean my scalp well and then I use a deep conditioner (I leave it on for about 20min). Plus I get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks.

Basically for me the biggest thing is to stay out of the sun. I am 29 but people always tell me I look anywhere from 21 to 25.What beauty stuff do you do to yourself?
Microdermabrasion scrubs are great at exfoliating, which helps you shave closer. You can look online for chocolate scented bath products, a lot of places make them now. Report Abuse

  • What is it that determines beauty? What factors are attributed to beauty?

I am speaking of physical attractiveness. Answer with anything, from evolutionary biology, to what your mom told you as a kid. What is it that determines beauty? What factors are attributed to beauty?
You must read ';survival of the prettiest'; to know the science of beauty. Beauty is actually not in the eye of the beholder. They have done studies on this and across all race and culture certain features are considered beuatiful. For female: hour glass figure, nicely shaped eyes, model oval like angular face, cheekbones, full lips, small jaw + chin, and they even have the distance and symmetry measured. For male: masculine angular face, squaresh jaw, nice eyes, the v - figure. Even though some people have unique preference for certain features, in general what is considered good looking is based on the same standards. (cultures varies somewhat with ideal weight, tone of skin)What is it that determines beauty? What factors are attributed to beauty?
It's when a person takes care of themselves and looks like themselves...it's such a shame when people let themselves go and stop caring or over do themselves (keep it basic)

...but it is usually based on the your own preference

everyone has different opinions about beauty although when i meet someone i know is hateful, they are ugly, like when i see them even if others think they're pretty those mean people are monsters to me and if someone is very nice, humble and has a good heart they are beautiful, sorry if it's a bit cliche but that's how i see it.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everybody has their own oppinions of what is beautiful

All the teachings about the subject you may get from your teachers in art appreciation or other ';intellectual'; courses of study CAN NOT BE APPLIED in those societies, so they are not TRUE in the absolute sense.

I stand by the old saying - - - ';Eye of the Beholder';!
