Is the subtlety, beauty and eloquence of the English language being subsumed by txt msg cmunic8uns?

As an untrained secretary I invented for myself a shorthand, leaving out most of the vowels, in order to keep up with the boss's dictation. This was about 49 years ago, when things had to be conveyed from shorthand into proper English. Is the subtlety, beauty and eloquence of the English language being subsumed by txt msg cmunic8uns?
I would hope not, but I see it happening everywhere and every day.Is the subtlety, beauty and eloquence of the English language being subsumed by txt msg cmunic8uns?
I would question whether the English language is beautiful or eloquent at all; as a Germanic language, I think it has a harsh sound and many unnecessary components that do not make sense to speakers of other languages. I much prefer the romance languages. As for text messaging changing the face of English, I do not feel that this will happen for many years, as the traditional spellings are still the standard and it takes a long time for that much language evolution to occur.
I think the engrish language need an overhaul. Whats with all the silent letters? they force us to invent things like short hand. Try explaining to a non english speaker why ';lamb'; has a b in it .....and why xylophone doesnt start with a ';zee';???? English language is superfluous and non sensical.
