What's the difference between a beauty spot and a freckle?

I have freckles on my arm but my boyfriend says they are beauty spots. What's the difference? They are dark brown/black and about half cm wide. What causes freckles too, why do we have them?What's the difference between a beauty spot and a freckle?

the pigment in your skin is just doubled on top of each other so it goes darker..beauty spots are normally on your face.freckles get everywhere else.you can buy a cream now from superdrug..called fade out and its supposed to make freckles lighter.
Size and colour, I would have thought. Also, aren't freckles more a reaction to the skin being exposed to sunlight? Don't they fade over time, whereas moles/beauty spots are there for keeps?

it's a semantic term to make you feel better about having them. Sort of like saying that men ';sweat';, but women ';glisten.';
Freckles are generally on mass and beauty spots(moles) are few and far between. What a nice boyfriend though!!
As far as I'm aware moles (on the face) are often called beauty spots. Freckles are freckles.
freckles are'nt beauty spots, moles are. freckles are just freckles and i think they have something to do with the pigment in your skin.
Beauty spots are usually single spots and freckles are multiple spots, usually from the sun. If you want to fade them try rubbing them with the inside skin of a Mango, thats what I did on my face and they are gone.
