What ';beauty'; turns out to be is symmetry in facial structure and what is most healthy in body types. Our brain seeks such things in partners for reproduction. Advertizers have to work very hard to manipulate that image for their own purposes.How distorted is the perception of beauty?
I think women have a really distorted perception of beauty. I spend a lot of time talking about the modern woman (sort of basing my studies on this---Masters in Sociology). In my studies/conversations with older generations, the modern woman has drastically changed. Not only do their thoughts of beauty differ, but their own self perception differ dramatically. Women today have such a warped ego/self-worth that even women that most people would crudely rate 5's %26amp; 6's out of ten (if we are to rate someone that way) think of themselves as 9's. Sick, really. The ';princess syndrome'; in modern women has reached a tipping point.
Yes I do.
Times have changed. Styles have changed. So naturally, our idea of beauty have changed.
And personally, outer looks should have no say. We should look on the inside for beauty.
But sadly, as times have changed. So have the thickness of most people's skulls. They see only outer beauty and seek it instead of see who they really are.
So, most people have turned into carbon copy Barbie whores.
attractive makes you smile. children, puppies, young people.... it gives the impression of, everything is in working order, there's still time... That's why sales adds use young beautiful people all the time.
They sell it in the way that youth is perfect, and if it's not perfect there's time to fix it.
They use Ethiopian children that are skin and bone to make us feel guilty into giving up money.
It's all about have the best of everything. the man or woman on your arm looks better than the one on your arm... there fore I must be more successful at something.
I don't believe in it. I go to work everyday with my hair up and hardly any makeup on...... the price I pay is that I'm single and people move out of the way when I'm walking through a crown. I'm OK with that, dressing better and looking better does not make me a better person :)
Most of what you are talking about is Due to the Media!!! The Hot Babes, the Muscular Men, etc......... I don't pay to much attention to that! '; Beauty Is In The EYE Of The Beholder';!!!! A woman that I think is '; Drop Dead Gorgeous'; may Not be Attractive At All to Someone Else!!!!! True Beauty Cannot Be Distorted when Perceived with the Above Statement in Mind!!!
Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think we each distort beauty in our own way. Or else we can say that we define beauty in our own way. The dangerous thing is allowing others to dictate what is beautiful.

Depends on if your talking about physical beauty or inner beauty. But I believe we are a bit skewed in our ideas of physical beauty. Its set at an unbelievable high standard by unrealistic people.

I have auditions next week for the school play Beauty And The Beast, What song should I sing for auditions?
By The Way Im 14 and Im in Middle School.I have auditions For The Play Beauty and The Beast Next Week, What song should I sing?
Well, what part do you want? I always try to fit my audition song with the character I'm going for - just an added little something to help the director picture me in that role. ( I Auditioned for -and got-the part of Babette in a local production)
Anyway, No matter what song you choose - don't sing songs from popular songs like wicked. I swear, so many girls sang songs from that show at my audition and none of them could pull them off at all. they're hard songs to sing. besides, the directors are sick of the popular shows. sing nothing, i mean NOTHING, from Annie. Try not to sing a song from Beauty and the Beast, since a ton of girls will do that too. about 10 girls sang ';Home'; and not only sang the same song - but the same verse!
Most importantly, be relaxed and show some personality. this show has wonderful character parts in it - babette for instance. I get to tango with the hottest guy in the school! *smile*I have auditions For The Play Beauty and The Beast Next Week, What song should I sing?
Sing a song you can sing. It does not have to be from the musical, but be prepared to sing a song from the musical just in case. Whatever you sing bring a copy of the sheet music so that the musician knows what to play. Also make sure that the music fits the music of the play. If most of the music being played in a musical is a waltz then it does you no good to sing jazz. Also bring several different songs, sad songs happy songs, funny songs etc. That way if the director asks you to try something else you have something else instead of having to rely on the musician or director. Oh, and at the audition, be respectful to the other performers, your audition begins when you enter the door and ends when the director dismisses you from the room. And if you don't get the part approach the director and tell him you enjoyed auditioning for him and you hope you will be able to again.
You have to sing something that fits your voice and that is similar to the type of music in this musical. I'd go with a slower song, maybe something a little romantic. Also, choose a song from a musical. Some theater companies won't even allow you to audition with a pop song or a High School Musical song. A wonderful song is Goodbye, Little Dream, Goodbye from the musical anything goes. if you can, watch a video for that sone or of the song Home from Beauty and the Beast, then pick a similar song.
Something that fits your voice part...if you can sing higher I would say something from Wicked, of I loved you once in silence from Camelot. If you sing lower you could pick something from Rent or another popular musical like that. Don't go with a cheesy pop song. If you can't find anything on your own you may want to go talk to your choir teacher.

I swear I saw one online, that instead of having a glitzy jewel, instead had a matte finished brown or black to look more like a natural beauty mark. I want to use this for possible job interviews to hide the fact that i have a piercing. Think I can get away with it? My daughter just went to one..and the mother hired 3 hair dressers to come to the home and do the girls hair, makeup, and nails..They took a picture of each girl when they got there and than after the make over..My daughter is in the 5th grade and her and all her friends loved it..Happy Birthday to your daughter!!

What should I wear to my Beauty and Beast Audition?
I am trying out for Belle, though I would be happy with a bit part/ensemble. I know I need to have something comfortable for the movement portion of the audition. Any suggestions on clothing for the singing part though?What should I wear to my Beauty and Beast Audition?
Certainly DO NOT show up in ';Character';
I have to believe you know what is appropriate in a professional situation, while being comfortable to you.
I doubt seriously that you need to bring a suitcase filled with changes for either situation, unless there have been suggestions regarding such.
Obviously you'll be in the company of others who will have different attire for specifics, and yet they may not get a part, no matter.

Do you pluck your eyebrows? if yes, then touch them up. If no, tonight is NOT the night to do it for the first time.
Do not wear too much makeup. I like to use a tinted moisturizer or a sheer base all over (just not heavy heavy base makeup) that matches your face exactly (I like the powdered foundations like Bare Essentials). Then I use a heavier concealer on red spots or zits. Blend blend blend. No makeup line at the jaw.
Eye makeup is a personal style thing. Maybe look at some made up models faces for some ideas. When in doubt, go modest.
A bit of blush always helps, but not too much! I put it on the front of the cheek smiling, and then blend up towards the temples.
Wear flattering clothes. If you sweat when you are nervous (i do!) do not wear a shirt that will show it badly.

We have the exact same problem!but i know what to do......if you want to go casual wear something like jeans with those little rips in them....those r really in now.im comsantly at the mall so i know lots! and you should wear a really wild shirt from ur fave store or something.if you want to dress up and look like aaaa....';supermodel';.....if you got the extra dough get a really cool dress that screams YOU.....i dont know if ur a bling girl but that helps too...and make ur hair original but not too crazy u dont want to scare the guy....i kno this a lot but i can tell u want this bad....for the shoes i would go tennishoes with gold accents...marc eco unlimited has a lot of those.people r saying that converse goes good with dresses too....i hope this helps!!!!! p.s if u dont have time to walk around the mall all day go to some websites and look so you know what to get....like hollister.com or ambercrombieandfitch.com or americaneagleoutfitters.com those are some casual places....last time i was at jcpenney i saw some really cool dresses wich wasnt too long ago...like i said im at the mall all the time..... : )

if not, then just wear your everyday jeans and a nice top and maybe try doing your hair a bit different, like teasing it a bit, and for the makeup, make it a little darker to make it look 'dramatic'.
eye lash curler, if you wear cover up double check to make sure you dont have wierd makeup lines and stuff like that, lipgloss and eye makeup is really all you should use, dont wear to much eyeliner and chew guumm.
